Michael Bengtsson, Chef/Restaurateur

From the moment I met this family, it was game on. All the cards on the table. Julia, Michael’s wife is a rice ball of energy, the kind that buzzes from the moment she becomes conscious in the morning, to the last thought before sleep. Their son Fox is a little lad, when measuring years, but the intelligence and suaveness of this kid will send any las wild... when he’s ready. Then we come to Michael, the man of the house and one of the most relaxed and selfless people I’ve come across in Sydney.

The Pixel Trade was spending a few days with Michael shooting his restaurant, Eat Thai and his cosy cafe, Tuk Tuk Street Bar. He also took me to the chaotic food markets in the outer suburbs of Sydney. A place as busy as the streets of India, forklifts buzzing backwards more than forwards. I was told a story of one of his cars being totaled here due to a driver playing chicken with him. A lot of the this produce goes towards his third business of home delivering fruit and veg under Fruit and Veg Guys. It was during this trade that I had a little issue with my laptop and thanks to a bunch of trades I got through the epic adventure.
