Trade XCI Month 11 | Autumn

Georgia Clark, Designer

I watched as Georgia cut around the fabric which laid across her work space. The precision. We were in her studio in Melbourne, where she creates custom aprons for all kinds of industries under her label, HOUSEMADE STUDIO. I love watching people who work with their hands in trades which often get shadowed by the big guns. I don’t completely need an apron as a photographer but after my trade with Georgia I was thinking of every possible way that it would be ‘normal’ for me to trade around the world wearing one. Yes that’s how phenomenal they are.

The Pixel Trade started with cafe hopping. We went to 3 different cafes, who each had their own style of aprons, designed and made by Georgia, to fit into their unique environment. Naturally we had to try the cuisine in each of these spaces too. From there we ventured into her studio where she was testing some fabrics for current clients and finished with shooting some of her previous designs in the home that her partner, Paul, inhabit with a whole lot of love. As well as chowing down a huge serving of spaghetti which completed my idea of heaven.
