Trade LXXXIV Month 9 | Autumn

Sam Gant, design stylist
Celeste Gant, business owner

The swarm of bees in my dream only lasted a moment. I woke up and realised it was just my phone buzzing away with Celeste on the other end, eagerly waiting for me to pick up. You see my communication with Celeste started many months ago when she asked if I would trade to shoot her and her girlfriends wedding. I knew by the back and forth emails that it would be an absolute blast to be part of their celebrations.

I picked up the phone...‘good morning Celeste’ croaked out of my mouth. ‘Shantanu...Can you be on a train in 40 minutes?’ My eyes shot open. I was supposed to have 5 hours to ease towards the railway this morning. I knew I had a mission ahead of me and I didn’t have a moment to think twice. ‘Yep...I’ll be on it’. So began the shoot that would last for 5 days of absolute... enjoyment. Whilst I was stretched to the limits physically, every detail, every person, the whole experience was incredible. The best part was I was in a location of women who liked to talk about women more than any man can possibly imagine. A blessing and a curse.

The Pixel Trade was the first wedding trade that implemented the 5 day shoot to capture the entire event. From setup days through to the white dress and wet kiss and ending on the hay bails in the Autumn sun, I was there to capture everything. I will never go back to shooting a one day wedding. To much happens outside of an entire day. The hardest part was what to choose for this post.

I remember sitting in the car, the afternoon before the ‘big’ day and Sam said to me, ‘I’m really lucky, I get to have two vaginas for the rest of my life, hers and mine.
