Jamie is the owner of Cup & Cake, a small boutique treat shop in the heart of Queenstown. When you photograph in a place like this you learn something that might almost be as interesting as hearing the meaning of life. If you work in a place that people only come to for happiness then the full day of work is going to be pretty amazing compared to the defenseless guy behind the insurance desk about to tell you you’re not covered. Cup & Cake is the place you go when someone says, ‘fuck I’m happy’ or ‘What a shit day, how can I make it better?’.

The Pixel Trade was an energised morning in the shop photographing the details of the space and watching Jamie make cakes. People came and laughed and smiled, it was like being on set for the new Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Only difference is Jamie took the quality of treats a wonka bar higher than the man himself, by making a whole lot of Gluten Free options. This is where you want to win the last golden ticket ladies and gentlemen.
