Sara Jenkins, Chef

The glass of wine sat in front of me, red, proud and tall...the only thing between it being consumed or not, was a bit of clear glass and my brain signaling my hand attached to the rest of my body to pick it up and drink. I listened to my brain. Again and again. The reason my mind was so enthusiastic towards the liquid grapes in front of me was the setting I was in, the people around me and the food in between each gulp. Sara Jenkins is a woman that found the key to my heart, Italian food. Porsena is one of her restaurants and it’s reputation is beyond my attempts to explain it’s quality and authenticity. She also happens to be the chef behind my favourite app, Sara Jenkins’ New Italian Pantry.

The Pixel Trade was in the East Village of Manhattan where both Porsena and Porchetta are located. I was photographing the food, the action, the chefs, the interiors and the exteriors. In between each photograph a mouthful of the finest food or wine slipped down into my stomach and created a high that was beyond any other food experience in New York City. If you haven’t made it to Porsena or Porchetta, start booking flights, cab rides, hell piggy back the neighbor if you have to, do what it takes to sit where I sat and enjoy what I and many, many others have before you.
